Probationary members of Responsible Pet Breeders (RPB) are obligated to uphold the RPB’s Code of Ethics as outlined in the About Us page. All breeders must also follow state and local legislation at all times.
A probationary member may become a RPB full member upon email request. Once the intent to become a full member has been communicated to RPB, the probationary member must undergo an audit to be completed by a practicing veterinarian. To uphold the high standards of being an RPB full member, the probationary member must also understand and follow the best practices for the care and raising of animals.
All probationary members must understand and adhere to the requirements of RPB upon joining.
It is recommended that probationary members complete the veterinarian audit before the end of the 12-month probationary period. The earlier this is completed, the earlier a full membership can be granted.
If you believe in the principles of RPB as outlined in our Code of Ethics, and you are interested in taking care of and breeding dogs or cats, then you are more than welcome to apply to join RPB. Registration of pet owners as well as breeders can help promote the ethical treatment of all animals. Please click the “Join Now” button on the right hand side of this page to apply.
Upon approval of your RPB membership application, we will upload your information (member number and animal breed/s) to the online probationary member database so that members of the public can verify that you are a member. Initial approval may take up to a week if we require additional information, but is typically done within a few days. You may then request a veterinarian audit form through email so you can complete the audit whenever you are ready. One of our support specialists may be in touch to verify that you are upholding the RPB standards and Code of Ethics. Our Terms & Conditions may be found here.
To begin the application process, please click the “Join Now” button below. You will be directed to a payment page to complete membership payment.
Once this payment is complete, you will then proceed to a registration page to input your membership information.
You may also send us an email to request a link to the membership registration page should it not work automatically. Please prepare images of the housing arrangements for your breeding animals, as well as any whelping areas and play areas. We may also require proof of identity and address. These images will be part of your application, to be reviewed by our administrative team.
RPB reserves the right to deny membership to any breeders that we feel do not comply with the requirements of membership. Violation of state and local legislation may result in a membership being denied. We provide refunds for breeders whose membership applications have been denied. However, we do not provide change of mind refunds for approved memberships.
Membership installments can be paid monthly, or annually (for a discounted rate).
Once payment has been made via the “Join Now” button, please check your email inbox (and junk mail) for a link to finalize your application.
