You may use this list to find RPB members in Florida who breed their animals responsibly and provide proper nutrition and accommodation for their dogs. Before choosing a breeder, please familiarize yourself with the needs and traits of your chosen breed, as well as the requirements for the proper care of the animal. 

 

Buying your dog or puppy from a breeder registered with RPB will give you peace of mind that you’re buying from an ethical breeder who cares for their animals properly.

To provide the finest standard of care for their pets, RPB members in Florida must follow our Code of Ethics. Breeders in the state of Florida must meet the following requirements:

  • Agree to abide by the RPB Code of Ethics

  • Have less than 10 breeding females

  • Be in compliance with the state and county/council animal number limits

  • Have all the necessary permits and licences for dog and/or cats breeding for where you reside

To breed in the state of Florida, many counties require you to have a “Hobby Breeder License”. The requirements for this license vary depending on the county in which you reside. These licenses are required to be updated annually.

You must be registered with your council/county prior to becoming a member of RPB.

In some areas this may require you to have a “commercial breeding permit” in order to legally be able to breed and sell animals.

All of your breeding animals are required to be up to date with their vaccinations (canine and feline vaccinations and rabies vaccinations) and be registered with your county/council as required.

  • Breezes Muirhead Dog Park: with plenty of open space, this local favourite is home to a huge fenced-in dog area with lots of space for your pooch to roam off-leash, exercise, or train.
  • Marlow Lagoon Pet Park: open 24/7, this dog park has 8 different obstacles for your dog to play and practice on.
  • George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens: this botanic garden welcomes off-leash dogs (so long as they are well behaved) and is a wonderful spot to bring your dog for a walk on its tranquil trails.
  • Holmes Jungle Nature Park: home to many native animal species, this scenic protected area is the perfect place for you and your dog (on the leash) to explore and immerse yourself in nature.
