Breeding puppies is a big responsibility that requires a significant investment of time, research, money and effort. It takes a lot of effort to make sure that the puppies are all healthy and well cared for before being sold.

Ethical breeders put in the necessary work and deliver a high level of care to all their animals, both before and after a sale. Choosing a legitimate and ethical dog breeder is one of the best ways to ensure that any dog you buy will be free from health issues and behavioral problems.

RPB endeavors to provide a platform for registered dog breeders to share their voice and ensure that all dogs, no matter the breed, are treated ethically, with love and care. We have a comprehensive Code of Ethics that all members must uphold.

Full RPB members have completed a veterinarian audit to verify that the animals are healthy and their living conditions pass our standards.

As per our Code of Ethics, all RPB registered dog breeders must abide by a three-day cooling-off period. During this time frame, you may return your dog for any reason. We also offer a lifetime rehoming service once you are out of this cooling-off period.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding an RPB member, feel free to contact us.

Whether or not you choose to buy your dog from an RPB registered dog breeder, we encourage you to ensure that your breeder is registered, and that you meet the breeder and puppy in person before making any final decisions.

The RPB has a two-tier structure for membership:

  1. Probationary members
Probationary RPB members have agreed to uphold our Code of Ethics, but have not yet completed the veterinarian audit process. This probationary period may only last up to 12 months, and the membership may be revoked if the veterinarian audit of the probationary member’s property is not completed within that time frame.
  2. Full members
RPB Full Members have agreed to uphold our Code of ethics, and have completed the veterinarian audit on their premises.
RPB Full Members must have a good understanding of best practices when breeding dogs, as well as comprehensive knowledge
of how to care for and raise their animals.

We encourage all our members to feed their dogs a premium diet for the animals’ health and wellbeing.

All animals must be up-to-date with their rabies vaccine and other key vaccinations, and breeders are responsible for ensuring that they are in compliance with any licenses or requirements of their local government.

Any member may have their membership revoked at any time if they do not uphold our Code of Ethics to our standards.

If the breeder number cannot be found on the Probationary or Full member list, go to our Verify Breeder page to check that the details given to you by a breeder match the details on the RPB database.

Together, we can promote ethical and humane treatment of all dogs. This change starts with you choosing to get a dog from a responsible breeder.
